Thornwood Primary supports a range of charities regularly.

We raised £389.61 for Children in Need on Friday 18 November 2016, with our'spotty' theme:- dressing in spotty clothes; guessing the number of Smarties in the jar; staffroom 'how many spots on the cake' sweepstake; selling cakes; sponsored silence. A huge THANK YOU to the Bank of Scotland, who DOUBLED this amount to £779.22!! Photos on our Gallery page.


We collected donations of food for the NW Glasgow Foodbank in October 2016 at Primary 3’s Harvest Assembly. We are able to accept food donations at any time for the Foodbank at our collection box in our Nursery hall.

In June 2016 we held an evening STEM Festival for our families, to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). All funds raised was for the Malawi Leaders of Learning CharityThornwood was the first Glasgow school to host such an event. 


In March 2016 we ran a successful Fairtrade cafe. 



On Friday 13th November 2015 we raised £310 for Children in Need. Everyone paid to dress as a superhero. P6&7 organised a bake sale. We had a fantastic assembly in the morning with our Nursery Class (to raise awareness of Children in Need); then we had a danceathon in the afternoon, with super cool moves.


During 2014-15 Thornwood Primary and Nursery donated a total of 150kg of food to the NW Foodbank, which equates to 170 meals!! This is an amazing total!!! 


In June 2015 we organised an International concert and café to raise money for the Nepal Earthquake AppealHere are a couple of pictures, but go to our Gallery for more.



 In April 2015 we raised a total amount of £1001.40 for LEPRA.  We held a sponsored event and had a fun dance-workout. 


In March 2015 we ran a Fairtrade cafe. We also raised money for Fairtrade by selling a range of Fairtrade gifts.

In December 2014 we raised money for Teenage Cancer Trust at our Christmas concert.

In 2013-14 we organised the sale of Malawi rice.
