Welcome to Thornwood out of School Care.
We are know as 'The Afty' (Thorwood children gave us this name).
We operate in Thornwood Primary between 3 and 6pm daily, Monday to Friday. We are based in the school cafeteria but we make good use of the school playgrounds.
Our staff collect Primary 1 and 2 children from their teachers at 3pm.
P3-7 children come straight to us from their class line at 3pm.
We offer many varied activities including arts & crafts, baking, sports, drama and music.
Outdoor play is also encouraged at the after school club.
Children are given a healthy snack on arrival and fruit and water are available throughout each session.
Information for parents/carers whose child is still at nursery:
We give a presentation to new Primary 1 families at the school's pre-entrant programme in May/June. New families can put their children's names down for a place at Afty at this meeting. If you want further information prior to this, please speak to someone in the school office.
We are able to offer child care to your Primary 1 child in 'The Afty'in the afternoons from the start of Term 1, until the children are at school full time. Please ask us about this.
